Owner Kerri Wagner has a passion for animals, essential oils, the food we eat and the sensibility of holistic medicine. She has a Business degree from Indiana Wesleyan and was a Computer Network Engineer up until 2005. Then she decided to follow her heart and change careers so that she could work with animals. Having worked in large corporations and as co-owner of NetLink technologies here in Lafayette, she never felt she was in the “right” place.
In her own words,
“I’ve always had a passion for animals so when it was time to change careers I knew it was something with animals. I graduated Animals Arts Academy in Carmel, IN as a certified Pet groomer/stylist in 2008. I opened bark avenue in 2008 to help take grooming to the level I felt it needed to be in Lafayette! I wanted to be able to pamper the animals just like we pamper ourselves. They have no voice and it’s necessary to keep them cleaned and free of parasites, infections, dry skin, bad coat, etc.”
All of the animals who enter the shop are pampered with loving hands from the humane bath to fluff dry to styling and finishing touches. Patience, love and care is provided to every pooch. We only use all-natural grooming products and specialize in spa products to truly pamper your pet.
Bark Avenue prides itself on providing outstanding care to all dogs and styling each one to look his or her best while maintaining a safe, low-stress, professional environment. We use aromatherapy products in my shop to help the animals with the grooming experience.
Alyson Lindsay started out working in computers and received Master’s degree in Communication.
She had been working with rescue animals for years and realized that she wanted to work with animals fulltime- and she has never been happier! Alyson grooms both cats and dogs and enjoys hand-strippingTerriers.
I have been grooming for 9 years. I’ve been employed with Bark Ave for 5 years. I received my grooming training through petsmart grooming academy. I worked at petsmart for 2 years as a groomer when I decided to take my knowledge to a small business where I was able to have the flexibility to cater more around the needs of my clients. At Bark Ave I’ve furthered my training by attending the annual all American grooming show in Chicago Illinois. I’ve also dabbled in creative color grooming. In 2014 I went to part time employment with Bark Ave while I opened my own grooming salon in Delphi In. Small town hound was open for a year and a half before I moved my business back to Lafayette and also went back to Bark Ave four days a week. I’m the mother of 10 children including my step children. I am a Mimi to 11 going on 12 wonderful grandchildren. I am very much involved with my large family and spend most of my spare time having family fun. I love camping, cooking, crafting and decorating my country home. Being a professional dog groomer is an absolutely wonderful way to spend my days. I have so many terrific clients and pet parents, most of whom have become like family and friends to me. I recently decided to become a foster parent to a doberman pincher, needless to say I fell in love with her and became her permanent mom after day two of fostering, apparently I’m what they call a “foster failure”, which is perfectly fine with me and the dog. I hope to get to groom for many more years at Bark Ave and look forward to helping improve the look and quality of life for a lot more dogs.
